CAGANCHO

This series of illustrations was born from an unexpected gesture in June 2025. A commission for a whole bull was transformed into something more: a sketch that became a finished painting, where the bull was no longer alone, but accompanied by a small plush toy of the bullfighter.

Each illustration revolves around two characters who are antagonists in real life: a bull and a bullfighter. Here, far removed from conflict, they become soft, fragile plush toys, and a relationship of kindness, friendship, and unexpected love blossoms between them.

The bullfighter is inspired by Joaquín Rodríguez Ortega, Cagancho, a character who renounces his reckless aura and allows himself to love the bull, while the bull, noble by nature, would never attack him.

These images imagine a world where conflict dissolves, where opposites seek each other out, embrace each other, and care for each other… a world where perhaps, one day, a little more love will be possible.
